Health visitor nurses visit people in their homes, community centres and GP practices to provide medical care and advice. Their role in the community means that people are more likely to turn to the health visitor for support on minor injuries and emotional issues rather than going to hospital for treatment.
As a health visitor you will travel around your local community, attending antenatal classes and clinics to help parents with how to raise their child and answer any of their questions. You’ll visit people who may be unable to get to a healthcare facility, treating any minor injuries and giving advice to those who need emotional support.
