Healthcare assistants work alongside qualified medical experts to provide general assistance and patient care. They are found in every kind of facility and regularly attend home visits, doing all they can to help staff while ensuring patients are comfortable. Though not trained like nurses or doctors, the addition they make to patient care is invaluable.
As a health carer, your work will revolve around making patient’s lives easier and better. Daily tasks will include helping people to wash, dress and get around, as well as helping out with food and bedding, but there are some overlaps with medical practice. Knowing what to look for in a patient’s vital signs, including temperature, heart rate and breathing could actually save a life.
