MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE DEPUTY MANAGER
1. Assist the Home Manager with staff rotas.
2. Supervise records of attendance, absence and relief coverage as required by the Home Manager.
3. Supervise the delegation of residents care plans, evaluate and organise care according to established policies.
4. Supervise all care activities and promote best practice in care.
5. Liaise with residents’ relatives and maintain good rapport with them.
6. Liaise and maintain good relationships with other professional working groups.
7. Supervise the scheduling of assignments so as to be consistent with all staff members education, training and experience.
8. Stimulates interest and attitudes in personnel to develop understanding of residents and encourage health and restorative care.
9. Be involved in organising and assisting with orientation and staff training.
10. Give guidance to personnel as needed, evaluate performance, discuss progress and needs for improvement and prepare evaluations with the Home Manager.
11. Attend staff meetings and conferences as requested.
12. Assure that establishment care policies and procedures are being implemented.
13. Notifies the Home Manager and attending Doctor of any untoward changes in residents conditions.
14. Supervise the maintenance of the residents daily record to assure accuracy in documentation.
15. Visit each resident in his/her area daily and make daily, assessments of their needs.
16. Supervises drug rounds and maintains accurate drug records, especially controlled drugs
17. To carry out duties in the absence if the home manager.
18. Is conversant with policies and quality systems of the company.
19. Be available for out of hours contact as required.
20. Any other tasks which may from time to time be required for good practice within the home.
