The nMRCGP and the new curriculum
From August 2007 there will be anew assessment process for doctors wishing to obtain a certificate of completion of training (CCT) in General practice. This new assessment will be an essential requirement for entry into the GMC Generalists Register and for membership of the RCGP. Work is progressing on the new assessment process, termed the nMRCGP, which will comprise of three elements:
- Applied Knowledge test (AKT).
- Clinical Skills Assessment (CSA).
- Workplace –based Assessment (WPBA).
The college has also produced a new draft curriculum for GP training on which the new assessment will be based. Development work is progressing on all three elements, and further details on the n MRCGP requirements will be available in Autumn 2007.
