Rates

Team24 offers some of the most competitive rates (click here for current rates) in this field and can assure you that we negotiate hard for the benefit of EVERY doctor who works for us. Team24 has learnt from experience that our Doctors prefer to receive their pay on a weekly basis (not a policy employed by all agencies) we therefore pay all earnings directly into the Doctors account punctually.

Accommodation

Our consultants work hard to ensure that we provide suitable accommodation for all Doctors working away from home. We will always negotiate with our clients to help meet the costs of this additional expense.*

*Please discuss and agree expenses in advance of any placement.

PLAB - Professional & Linguistic Assessments Board

Part 1 involves four sections each of which will be assessed individually. The emphasis is on clinical management and includes science as applied to clinical problems. The test is confined to core knowledge, skills and attitudes relating to conditions commonly seen by SHOs, to the generic management of life-threatening situations, and to rarer, but important problems.

2: Investigations; You will given the facts of an individual case and you will be asked to propose the correct form of investigation which will provide the key to diagnosis. Alternatively you could be given the findings of an investigation, and asked to relate these to a patient's condition to arrive at the correct diagnosis.

3: Management; with the aid of some important information about a patient's condition, you will be asked to select the most appropriate course of treatment from a range of options. In the case of medical treatments you will be asked to choose the correct drug therapy and will be expected to understand and explain about potential side effects.

4: Miscellaneous: This section could include the following:

a. Explain the disease process: The natural history of disease will be tested with reference to basic physiology and pathology.

b. Legal/ethical: You are expected to know the major legal and ethical principles set out in the GMC publication “Duties of a Doctor”.

c. Practice of evidence based medicine: Questions on diagnosis, investigations and management could draw upon recent evidence published in peer-reviewed journals. In addition, there may be questions on the principles and practice of evidence-based medicine.

d. Understanding of epidemiology: You could be tested on the principles of epidemiology, and on the prevalence of important diseases in the UK .

e. Health promotion: How to prevent disease through health promotion and knowledge of risk factors.

f. Awareness of multicultural society: You could be tested on your understanding of the impact on a practice of medicine relating to health beliefs and cultural values of the major cultural groups represented in the UK population.
