The nurse’s role is to see, examine, diagnose and treat patients of all ages presenting to the Walk-in Centre with minor illness or minor injury.
There are strict key performance indicators with the Department of Health to adhere to including waiting times, generic prescribing, average consultation times, speed of seeing urgent patients – this role is required to ensure the WiC continues to deliver on these KPIs.
With specific experience, you will have the chance to use your current skills in a very different kind of role. You will be responsible for delivering primary care services, promoting confidence and public trust within the Walk-in Centre. The centre is open Monday to Friday 07.00 until 19.00 and we offer full-time work patterns of 06.45 - 15.15 and 10.45 - 19.15.
The post holder will have:
• At least 5 years post registration experience in a relevant area e.g.Accident and Emergency or Primary Care as a nurse practitioner
• Registered Nurse qualification and Nurse practitioner experience/qualifications are essential
• Independent Nurse Prescriber qualification or Paediatric nurse practitioner experience would be desirable
• Excellent communication skills
• Thorough understanding of the role and implications of clinical governance
• Well-developed negotiating and influencing skills
• A pragmatic approach to solving problems
• Highly developed written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
• Evidence of effective team working and team building
• Thorough understanding of wider business issues
• Able to identify and address professional training and development issues
• Possess a good understanding of the healthcare marketplace.
